I design objects that hold weight — literally and emotionally.

Every SAÉA piece is hand-carved from raw, natural onyx sourced from the quarries of Balochistan, Pakistan. No two are alike. No plastics, no synthetics, no artificial polish. Just stone shaped by artisans whose families have carved for generations, and finished by my hands in our San Diego studio.

I founded SAÉA because I believe your home should feel like a shelter — a space that helps you breathe, be still, and remember who you are. Not a showroom. Not a performance. A place that holds you.

That belief is in the name. SAÉA — سایہ — is an Urdu word meaning shade, shelter, or protection.

Why Stone

Onyx begins deep in the earth. In Balochistan, ancient water bodies once covered the land. As they evaporated over millennia, they left behind layers of calcite and silica — mineral deposits that slowly compressed into the banded, translucent stone we carve today.

Every vein, every color shift, every imperfection in a SAÉA piece is millions of years in the making. When you hold one of our bowls up to the light and see it glow, you're seeing geological time made visible.

We don't polish it into something it's not. We don't dye it. We seal each piece with food-grade beeswax and let the raw surface speak. The matte finish, the weight in your hand, the cool touch — that's the stone being honest.

How It's Made

Each design starts with me — sketching forms that balance simplicity with the natural irregularity of stone.

The artisans in Balochistan take it from there. Large slabs are sliced into workable pieces, then shaped by grinder and hand chisel into the final form. Every bowl, vase, and tray passes through hands that understand this stone the way a musician understands an instrument.

When the pieces arrive in San Diego, I inspect each one, apply a protective coat of food-grade beeswax, and prepare it for its next home — yours.

What We Stand For

Natural only. 100% pure onyx. No plastics, no synthetics, no harmful treatments.

Handmade always. Every piece is carved by artisans and finished by our founder.

Imperfection is the point. No two SAÉA pieces are the same because no two pieces of stone are the same. That's the philosophy of wabi-sabi — the beauty of things shaped by time, not machines.

Accessible luxury. Natural stone shouldn't require a designer's budget. Premium craft at a price that lets more people live with real materials.

Give back. A portion of all proceeds goes to Muttville SF — America's first cage-free senior dog rescue.

Every piece ships free, nationwide, from San Diego. Wrapped with care.
