about cut stone

Stone keeps a record. Agate grows band over band inside old volcanic rock, and amethyst crystallizes into the space left over. Cut across, that record opens. Our agate and geodes come from Madagascar and Brazil, and every listing names its stone.

Bookends are sold as pairs. Our twins are split from a single stone, so the cut faces mirror each other; our odd twins are two different stones paired on purpose. Agate slices run about 6 by 4.5 inches and a quarter inch thick, and sit under a cup, a candle or a stack of rings.

Specimens run from about 2.5 to 4 inches, and bookends from about 3.5 to 5 inches tall, 1 to 5 lb a pair. Each piece or pair is photographed on its own, and that is what we pack.

The Earth doesn't repeat herself. One of a kind, every one.

good to know

Is the piece in the photo the one I'll get?

Yes. Every piece is one of a kind, and the photos show the exact piece or pair you'll receive. Natural stone shifts with the light, so use the photos as a guide to color and pattern.

Is the color natural?

The banding and crystal are natural. Some agate slices are color-enhanced, which is standard for decorative agate, and any piece that has been dyed or coated says so in its listing.

How do I care for it?

Dust with a dry cloth and keep it out of standing water. Agate slices work as coasters and trays but are not meant for serving food. Amethyst can fade after long exposure to strong sun, so keep geodes out of a bright window.

How does shipping work?

Every order ships from our studio in San Diego. Ground delivery in the U.S. takes 3 to 6 days, and it's free on orders over $100. We also ship to 25 countries across Asia, Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. That takes about a week, priced at checkout.

If a piece arrives damaged, photograph it as it comes out of the box and email hello@saeadesigns.com. We'll sort out a refund or an exchange. Returns are open for 30 days, unused and in the original packaging, with return shipping taken from the refund.
