the finer details
Rust and amber band inward in tight contour lines, darkening to burnt sienna at the edge and gathering toward a core of paler rings. The rim stays raw, a rough crust of crystal where the nodule met the rock around it. Every slice here comes from the same lot, so the palette holds and the banding moves.
A coaster under a glass, a base for a candle, a place for rings by the sink.
STRATA · VEIN · WEIGHT
STRATA — Agate nodules from a single lot, each cut once across its bands and faced flat on both sides.
VEIN — Rust, amber and burnt sienna in concentric bands around a paler orange core, a raw crystalline rim all the way around. Where the core sits and how the bands turn is different on every slice. The slices pictured are from this lot.
WEIGHT — Heavy for what it is. Denser in the hand than a glass coaster the same size.

Each piece is sealed with food-grade beeswax. Refresh every 6 to 12 months by warming a small amount of oil or wax into the surface, then buffing gently with a soft cloth.

Onyx forms in slow, mineral-rich pockets underground — layers laid down over thousands of years. Each slab is split once, then carved by hand, which is why no two pieces share the same ribboning.
We keep the walls thin so light passes through when the piece sits on a window ledge.
