about the coasters
Most sets are Balochistan onyx, carved by hand in Balochistan, Pakistan, by artisans working in lineage, and finished in our studio in San Diego, in cream, sage, honey, amber, rust, clay and plum. The Calacatta Vagli set is marble, also quarried in Balochistan, with charcoal veining that runs from the coasters up into the holder.
The onyx is left unpolished and sealed with beeswax, which keeps its matte, natural surface. We don't use chemical polish. It would make the stone tougher and our work easier, and it would stop being raw stone.
Most sets are six coasters, about 4 by 4 inches and a quarter inch thick, with a holder; a few are five coasters and a holder. Each onyx set is photographed on its own, and that is the set we pack.

Can a cold glass sit on them?
Yes. A cold, sweating glass can sit right on them, and there's no need to wipe them dry after.
Is the set in the photo the one I'll get?
For every onyx set, yes. Each set is photographed on its own, and that's the set we pack.
The Calacatta Vagli set is one design made in a small run, so its photo shows the form and the stone. The veining on yours will be its own.
How does shipping work?
Every order ships from our studio in San Diego. Ground delivery in the U.S. takes 3 to 6 days, and it's free on orders over $100. We also ship to 25 countries across Asia, Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. That takes about a week, priced at checkout.
If a piece arrives damaged, photograph it as it comes out of the box and email hello@saeadesigns.com. We'll sort out a refund or an exchange. Returns are open for 30 days, unused and in the original packaging, with return shipping taken from the refund.
