An inland sea dried out over the middle of a continent and left silica behind in the cracks. Water carried it down, seam by seam, into voids in the old rock and set it there. Australian opal is that record, and it is rare because the conditions that made it barely happened anywhere else on Earth. One of one stone - exactly what you will receive.
This one came up loud. A field of emerald and lime that breaks into grain where the silica set rough, so the surface catches light in points rather than a sheet. Darker green pools toward the base, and a seam of the host rock cuts the upper third and stays there. Set in a hand-worked sterling silver bezel, rope-twisted at the edge. The setting is made the same way each time. The grain across your stone matches no other. Worn, you become the vein that runs different in the room.

MAKE — Rare Australian opal cabochon, sterling silver bezel and bail. Rope-twist border, heavy bail. Natural stone only. No dyes, no synthetics.
FORM — A single 1.5" oval cabochon, emerald and lime broken by a darker seam. One stone at center, nothing competing with it.
WEAR — Five lengths, one stone. Black leather cord for a quieter line; sterling silver for weight and shine. Wipe dry. Keep the stone and the cord out of water, perfume, and oils.
