ORIGIN
Spiny oyster grows its shell orange to deep red in the Gulf of California, the color set by the water it feeds in. Turquoise forms where copper-bearing water works through aluminum-rich rock. Lapis is limestone that metamorphosed, blue from lazurite. Three materials, three processes, cut flat and set in one plane.
