Older than influence. Two blocks of Balochistan onyx cut to a trapezoid, wide at the base and narrowing to a flat top, so the whole form sits down into the surface instead of standing on it. The field is cream going to milk, near-translucent where the stone thins. Through each one runs a single horizontal seam of rust and amber, close to level, like a waterline the stone recorded and kept. The two seams sit at different heights. They were cut from the same block and still refuse to match. Pure onyx. Raw. One of a kind. The exact pair you'll receive. The only one we have left.

Low and heavy, they hold a taper without the wobble a tall holder gives you. Set them close together where the seams can be read against each other, or split them across a table. Warm the base of the candle gently before setting it in; a soft candle seats snug in stone and stays put.

Each piece is sealed with food-grade beeswax. Refresh every 6 to 12 months by warming a small amount of oil or wax into the surface, then buffing gently with a soft cloth.
