one of one
Every piece is hand-carved from raw stone. Veining, color, translucency — no two are identical. The piece you receive is the only one of its kind.

Ochre and umber gather on the face of this cylinder in one banded shield, ringed in cream and flecked with rust, the grain inside it combed fine like dry grass. On either side the onyx goes pale and milky. This is the one you get.
Brushes on a vanity, pens on a desk, a handful of dried stems. It was left unpolished, so it's as close to the earth as possible when you touch it.
STRATA — Single-source Balochistan onyx, carved by hand into a straight-walled cylinder.
VEIN — Ochre, honey and umber in a single shield across the front, edged in cream, with rust flecks and fine dark hairlines through the center. Milky ivory on both flanks, the ochre surfacing again inside the rim.
WEIGHT — Heavy for what it is. Several times the heft of a ceramic cup the same size.
SAÉA — shelter · refugio · پناه
Made by earth. Shaped by hand. Kept by you.

the crate
Every two weeks we open a crate and photograph the next batch. Everyone on the list sees them first.
Onyx forms in slow, mineral-rich pockets underground — layers laid down over thousands of years. Each slab is split once, then carved by hand, which is why no two pieces share the same ribboning.
We keep the walls thin so light passes through when the piece sits on a window ledge.

No two pieces alike. No factory finish. Just raw onyx, hand-carved by artisans in Balochistan and finished in our San Diego studio.

A nice and heavy piece. It was packaged well and arrived without damage. Great customer service, too. She went above and beyond to find the name of the scent on the dried flowers.
