the finer details
Wear them with hair back or tucked. The drop clears a collar but is long enough to swing, and the pearl above the bead catches light on the way down, so movement is part of the design. If you own one pair of colored earrings, this is the red that works in the most rooms.
A freshwater pearl and a single round bead, hung from a small hinged gold huggie. Two materials, one vertical line, nothing else on it. The pearl is slightly off-round and softly ridged, the way freshwater pearls actually come — the perfectly spherical ones are the exception, not the standard.

WEAR — Approx. 1" total drop. Hinged huggie closure. Everyday. Store dry; keep pearls away from perfume and hairspray, which dull the nacre.

Pearls are assigned in crystal practice to the crown, associated with the moon, and kept for integrity and calm waters. Pearl is a June birthstone. We report the tradition; we don't claim it.
The documented history is remarkable. Until the 1920s, pearls were the most valuable gem on Earth — a natural pearl necklace could buy a building on Fifth Avenue, and one famously did. Then cultured pearls arrived, the supply changed overnight, and the price collapsed. The pearl on this earring is a descendant of that collapse: a thing once reserved for monarchs, now something you can wear to work.

Each piece is sealed with food-grade beeswax. Refresh every 6 to 12 months by warming a small amount of oil or wax into the surface, then buffing gently with a soft cloth.

Onyx forms in slow, mineral-rich pockets underground — layers laid down over thousands of years. Each slab is split once, then carved by hand, which is why no two pieces share the same ribboning.
We keep the walls thin so light passes through when the piece sits on a window ledge.
