Amethyst is quartz turned violet in the ground, the color deepening where iron caught a long, slow light. Here a single tablet of it hangs on a gold chain — clear purple clouded with white where the crystal grew in threads — a baroque freshwater pearl swinging beneath it. Stone and pearl, one warm line of gold between them. Wire wrapped entirely by hand.
The amethyst and the pearl are both natural, so no two hang the same. Cut and set to a design, but the stone runs its own veils and the pearl keeps its own shape — worn, you become the one that catches different. Keep it off water, perfume, and chemicals; a soft cloth keeps the gold bright.
