Older than the names we've put on it. Red jasper, faceted by hand and left with its own record — deep brick body, pale brecciated patches where the stone broke and healed, thin fracture veins running the faces. Iron is what makes jasper red, laid down grain by grain long before anyone strung it. No two of these beads carry the same map. This is a one of a kind, vintage piece. The only one we have.

Faceted jasper carries the strand, weighted at intervals by other earth: a single turquoise oval, one deep lapis round, a faceted black onyx, a carved cream bead worn soft, small olive-green stones, a warm amber bead at the clasp. Ornate silver- and gold-tone metalwork sits between them, filigree beads that catch the light the stone doesn't. Strung once, by hand, before it reached us. This is a one of a kind. The only one.

Wear it alone at the collarbone, doing all the work. Store it flat or hanging, away from other pieces so the faceted edges don't catch softer chains. No water, no chemicals. A dry cloth is the whole maintenance plan.
