Quarried from a single seam of Balochistan onyx, in a cradle of craft older than most nations. The stone was forming while empires were still an idea.
A white body, milk-pale and translucent, cut through with veins of amber and rust that run where the Earth decided they would. Set it on a side table and the table stops being furniture. The room arranges itself around the weight.
Fill it with dried stems or stand it bare. Catch the late light through the body and the veining lights from within. Wipe it clean with a soft cloth — tending, not maintenance. It outlasts the season, then the next one.
No two veins run the same. The photo is a guide to the color, not a contract. The strata occurs once. Earth, unobscured.

OUR STORY
SAÉA — سایہ — is an Urdu and Arabic word meaning shade, shelter, protection. The name is load-bearing. Every piece is hand-carved from raw onyx sourced from the quarries of Balochistan, then finished by hand in our San Diego studio. A woman-of-color–owned, small-batch studio. We work slow, in small numbers, and make no more than is needed.

SAÉA Stones
Onyx is a natural stone, stunning but not bulletproof. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh detergents. Read more here.
Each piece is sealed with food-grade beeswax. Refresh every 6 to 12 months by warming a small amount of oil or wax into the surface, then buffing gently with a soft cloth.
SAÉA Jewels
Made with natural gemstones and gold-plated or gold-filled chains, SAÉA jewels are designed for everyday wear.
While our jewelry is water-resistant, prolonged water exposure is not recommended. To preserve its finish, avoid wearing in pools, hot tubs, saltwater, or during heavy sweating. Store dry when not in use.

Onyx forms in slow, mineral-rich pockets underground — layers laid down over thousands of years. Each slab is split once, then carved by hand, which is why no two pieces share the same ribboning.
We keep the walls thin so light passes through when the piece sits on a window ledge.
