one of one
Every piece is hand-carved from raw stone. Veining, color, translucency — no two are identical. The piece you receive is the only one of its kind.

Two bands run the full height, rim to base. Saffron on one side, soft at the edges like pigment in wet plaster; on the other, a seam of deep umber crackled through with fine white lines. Turn it and the back goes quiet: hairline rust veins and a smoke-gray cloud at the foot. This is the one you get.
A pen cup on the desk or a crock for wooden spoons by the stove. Light a tealight inside and both bands show dark against the glow.

VEIN — Ivory body, a saffron band and a crackled umber seam running rim to base, fine rust veining and a smoke-gray cloud on the reverse. One of one.
WEIGHT — Heavier in the hand than a ceramic cup its size. A pound of solid onyx.

the crate
Every two weeks we open a crate and photograph the next batch. Everyone on the list sees them first.
Onyx forms in slow, mineral-rich pockets underground — layers laid down over thousands of years. Each slab is split once, then carved by hand, which is why no two pieces share the same ribboning.
We keep the walls thin so light passes through when the piece sits on a window ledge.

No two pieces alike. No factory finish. Just raw onyx, hand-carved by artisans in Balochistan and finished in our San Diego studio.

A nice and heavy piece. It was packaged well and arrived without damage. Great customer service, too. She went above and beyond to find the name of the scent on the dried flowers.
