one of one
Every piece is hand-carved from raw stone. Veining, color, translucency — no two are identical. The piece you receive is the only one of its kind.

A lidded box does what an open dish can't. It closes. That makes it the piece for the things you'd rather not have on display — the ring you take off but don't wear daily, earrings between wearings, a folded note, a key. On a nightstand or a shelf it reads as an object rather than as storage, which is the whole trick of it.
Put it where a lamp can reach. Onyx is translucent at this thickness and the pale walls take light from the side, so the rose panel across the front warms instead of going flat. On dark wood it holds its own. On a pale surface, set it near something with weight — a stack of books, a heavy ceramic — so it doesn't drift.
Open, it becomes a different object. The interior comes up cream and rust, and the lid propped back shows a face you never see while it's closed. Amber and caramel across the top, banded and swirled, with a cream patch at one corner and a plum line running the edge. The body is the opposite: milky white with a broad rose-mauve panel across the front and fine rust veining through it. The pull is a small square of pale green onyx set into the lid. One of a kind. The exact piece you'll receive.
STRATA — Single-source Balochistan onyx, hand-carved, finished in San Diego.
VEIN — Amber and caramel banding across the lid with a cream corner and a plum edge; milky white body with a broad rose-mauve panel and rust veining; banded caramel base. The photo guides you to the color; it isn't a contract.
WEIGHT — 2 lb of multi-vein onyx.
Onyx is assigned in crystal practice to the root chakra and kept for grounding and protection. We report the tradition; we don't claim it.
The material's other name came from a container, not the other way around. An alabastron was a small stoppered jar for perfumed oil, and the stone came to be called alabaster because that is what the jars were cut from. The vessel named the material. A box like this is the older use.
Carved by master hands on Mehrgarh-adjacent ground, among the oldest making-grounds on Earth. Finished in San Diego, with no shortcut that trades honesty for shine. The strata occurs once. Earth, unobscured.

Onyx forms in slow, mineral-rich pockets underground — layers laid down over thousands of years. Each slab is split once, then carved by hand, which is why no two pieces share the same ribboning.
We keep the walls thin so light passes through when the piece sits on a window ledge.

No two pieces alike. No factory finish. Just raw onyx, hand-carved by artisans in Balochistan and finished in our San Diego studio.
