the finer details
It reads as wood. Burled and grained, closer to walnut than to marble, so on an oak dresser it belongs to the furniture instead of sitting on top of it. On marble or lacquer it goes the other way and becomes the one warm object in a cool room. Inside it takes what you'd rather not leave out: rings, cufflinks, a watch too good for a drawer. Lift the lid and the underside comes up pale cream, a face nobody sees but you.
STRATA · VEIN · WEIGHT
STRATA — Single-source Balochistan onyx, hand-carved. A cave deposit, built the way a stalagmite is built: mineral-saturated water arriving slowly and leaving a trace behind, layer on layer, for as long as the water kept coming.
VEIN — Warm caramel and honey, burl-like swirling figure across lid and body, deeper brown and plum at the edges, pale cream on the underside of the lid.
WEIGHT — Heavier than the lacquered or ceramic box of the same size, and the lid stays shut on weight alone. Two pounds.

Each piece is sealed with food-grade beeswax. Refresh every 6 to 12 months by warming a small amount of oil or wax into the surface, then buffing gently with a soft cloth.

30-day returns on unused, undamaged pieces. Email us at hello@saeadesigns.com and we will send a return label.
If a piece arrives damaged in transit, send photos of it as it came out of the box to hello@saeadesigns.com and we will refund or exchange it.

Onyx forms in slow, mineral-rich pockets underground — layers laid down over thousands of years. Each slab is split once, then carved by hand, which is why no two pieces share the same ribboning.
We keep the walls thin so light passes through when the piece sits on a window ledge.
