one of one
Every piece is hand-carved from raw stone. Veining, color, translucency — no two are identical. The piece you receive is the only one of its kind.

Every part of this one matches. Lid, body, base, pull — the same caramel, the same swirling figure running through all of it, so it reads as a single block someone hollowed out rather than a box assembled from parts. That is harder to get in stone than it sounds, and it is the reason to choose this one over the others. One of one. The exact piece you'll receive.
It also reads as wood. Burled and grained, closer to walnut than to marble, which means on an oak or walnut dresser it looks like it belongs to the furniture instead of sitting on top of it. Put it on wood and let that happen. Put it on marble, lacquer or painted steel and it goes the other way, becoming the one warm object in a cool room. Both work — just pick one on purpose.
Inside it takes what you'd rather not leave out: rings, cufflinks, a watch too good for a drawer, a folded note. Lift the lid and the underside comes up pale cream, a face nobody sees but you. The lid sits by weight. One of a kind. The exact piece you'll receive.
STRATA — Single-source Balochistan onyx, hand-carved, finished in San Diego.
VEIN — Warm caramel and honey throughout, burl-like swirling figure across the lid and body, deeper brown and plum streaks at the edges, pale cream on the underside of the lid.
WEIGHT — 2 lb of onyx.
Onyx is assigned in crystal practice to the root chakra and kept for grounding and protection. We report the tradition; we don't claim it.
This stone is a cave deposit. The same process that builds a stalagmite built this — mineral-saturated water arriving slowly and leaving a trace of itself behind, layer on layer, for as long as the water kept coming. Cut a stalagmite across and you get very close to this figure. You are looking at the inside of something that grew in the dark, drop by drop.
Carved by master hands on Mehrgarh-adjacent ground, among the oldest making-grounds on Earth. Finished in San Diego, with no shortcut that trades honesty for shine. The strata occurs once. Earth, unobscured.

Onyx forms in slow, mineral-rich pockets underground — layers laid down over thousands of years. Each slab is split once, then carved by hand, which is why no two pieces share the same ribboning.
We keep the walls thin so light passes through when the piece sits on a window ledge.

No two pieces alike. No factory finish. Just raw onyx, hand-carved by artisans in Balochistan and finished in our San Diego studio.
