the finer details
Brown onyx, laid down in bands and carved from one block into a wide, shallow dish on a turned foot. Walnut and caramel sweep across the bowl, cut through with seams of cool slate, the rim running pale where the stone thins. One of one | this is the one you get.
Fruit on the dining table. Keys by the door. Or nothing at all, the foot lifting the dish high enough for light to cross its face.
STRATA · VEIN · WEIGHT
STRATA — Single-source Balochistan onyx, split once, carved by hand. Dish and foot are one piece of stone.
VEIN — Deep walnut and caramel banding, silver-slate seams, a cream band along the rim. The ribboning runs in one direction across the whole dish.
WEIGHT — Heavier than any ceramic bowl its size. About two pounds of solid onyx.

Each piece is sealed with food-grade beeswax. Refresh every 6 to 12 months by warming a small amount of oil or wax into the surface, then buffing gently with a soft cloth.

Onyx forms in slow, mineral-rich pockets underground — layers laid down over thousands of years. Each slab is split once, then carved by hand, which is why no two pieces share the same ribboning.
We keep the walls thin so light passes through when the piece sits on a window ledge.
