one of one
Every piece is hand-carved from raw stone. Veining, color, translucency — no two are identical. The piece you receive is the only one of its kind.

This is the graphic one. The field runs near-white and the veins are thin, dark and branching, so it reads less like a piece of stone than like a drawing on one — a few russet lines crossing milk, gathering at one corner and thinning out toward the other. From across the room it's a white box. Up close it's linework. One of one. The exact piece you'll receive.
That makes it the piece for a hard-edged room. Where the warmer boxes want oak and linen, this one holds up against white walls, black metal, glass, a lacquered surface — anywhere the palette is cool and deliberate and a rustic stone would look like it wandered in by mistake. It's also the right one for a stack of art books, because it argues with nothing on the cover.
Inside it takes what you'd rather not leave out: rings, studs, a spare key, a folded note. Milk-white through the lid and body with a faint green cast, crossed by fine russet veins, and a small apricot patch low on the front. The pull is a square of deeper green onyx set into the top — the only saturated thing on the piece, and it works as a full stop. The lid sits by weight. One of a kind. The exact piece you'll receive.
STRATA — Single-source Balochistan onyx, hand-carved, finished in San Diego.
VEIN — Milk-white field with a faint green cast, fine russet veins branching across the lid and gathering at one corner, a small apricot patch at the base, deeper green onyx pull.
WEIGHT — 2 lb of onyx.
Onyx is assigned in crystal practice to the root chakra and kept for grounding and protection. We report the tradition; we don't claim it.
Branching marks in stone have a name — dendrites, from the Greek for tree — and for centuries they were taken for fossilized plants. They aren't organic at all. They are iron or manganese crystallizing outward along a hairline crack, spreading in the same branching pattern that water and lightning use, because branching is the cheapest way for anything to travel. Naturalists were still arguing about it into the 1700s.
Carved by master hands on Mehrgarh-adjacent ground, among the oldest making-grounds on Earth. Finished in San Diego, with no shortcut that trades honesty for shine. The strata occurs once. Earth, unobscured.

Onyx forms in slow, mineral-rich pockets underground — layers laid down over thousands of years. Each slab is split once, then carved by hand, which is why no two pieces share the same ribboning.
We keep the walls thin so light passes through when the piece sits on a window ledge.

No two pieces alike. No factory finish. Just raw onyx, hand-carved by artisans in Balochistan and finished in our San Diego studio.
