Iron got into the silica before the stone set. That is the red. It runs the rim in a broad band, coral into ember into ochre, and then the field goes cool. Sage, bone, a grey-green that moves across the body like weather. The interior sits darker. Olive under the polish, with a few black hairlines the Earth left in and the carver kept. One of a kind. The documented history is older than the tradition. Jasper was cut for seals and amulets across Egypt, Assyria and Rome, and it appears in Pliny by name in the first century. People have been carrying this stone for four thousand years.

ORIGIN

Jasper is silica that settled into volcanic ground and took iron with it. Time pressed it into a body that reads like a landscape. Shaped by hand, finished in San Diego, with no shortcut that trades honesty for shine. The strata occurs once. Earth, unobscured.

Each piece is sealed with food-grade beeswax. Refresh every 6 to 12 months by warming a small amount of oil or wax into the surface, then buffing gently with a soft cloth.
