This is the exact pair you'll receive. Agate forms slowly, one thin layer at a time, inside a pocket of old volcanic rock — a record laid down long before anyone thought to stand books between two halves of it. This pair is one stone, cut once and opened. Pale aqua runs translucent at the edges and thickens to a frost of quartz crystal at the core, with a smoked-grey pocket where the mineral ran darker. The two faces mirror each other because they are the same interior, seen from both sides. 

Set them at the ends of a short run of books, cut face out, and let the light pass through the thin edges. Heavy enough to hold their ground against a leaning shelf. Dust with a dry cloth; keep out of standing water.

ORIGIN

Formed grain by grain in a cavity of old volcanic rock, over a stretch of time no hand can hold. Cut once and polished by hand, the raw rind left where the stone met the world. The strata occurs once. Earth, unobscured.
