Lapis lazuli is lazurite locked in rock, its blue running deep and even, flecked with gold where pyrite formed alongside it and streaked white where calcite ran through. This tapered stone carries all three: a royal-blue field, a scatter of gold, a few pale veins the stone kept. Set in a bright bezel on a black leather cord, it falls at the sternum and warms against the skin. The stone is set the same way each time; the run of gold across yours belongs to no other. Worn, you become the vein that runs different in the room.
